PWR stands for Prairie Wildlife Research. Prairie Wildlife Reasearch is an organization that is trying to help restore the Prairies. If we restore the Prairies, we restore the ferret. What they're doing to help is raising awareness for this problem. They have had presentations and spoken at schools, universities, and many other places. Just like other organizations, they keep many ferrets held captive. They shine spotlights down on the prairies and look for a green eyeshine. They think the best way to save this animal is to truly understand this animal. That is why they're collecting funds to help research about the black-footed ferret.

How Can You Help?

They’re actually a few organizations that are already  trying to help the black-footed ferret. Three big ones are WWF, PWR and the Black-Footed Ferret Recovery Program. Here is some information about what these three big organizations are doing to help protect the black-footed ferret.

WWF

WWF is currently helping maintain the ferret's natural habitat: the prairies. They're also trying to help restore the prairie dog which is the ferret's main food source, but they're 2 other main things they're doing. The first thing is taking the ferrets out of the wild and into captivity and trying to get the ferrets away from the things that cause the bacterial disease. To do this they're relocating prairie dogs and then adding ferrets to that enviornment which is the second thing. If you'd like to help the black-footed ferret through WWF click:

Black-Footed Ferret Recovery Program

The black-footed ferret recovery program is a organization that is trying to save and raise awareness about the black-footed ferret. Just like the other 2 corporations I have mentioned, the ferrets are being bred in captivity. The main goal of this program is to reach out and share this problem of the black-footed ferret going extinct.
